About this tutor

My self-made business is consisted of me providing help to needing students in areas of test prep, essay writing, project completing, homework, and more. I specifically am experienced in areas of math, English, writing, and can assist in other areas as well given proper material.  I am most comfortable with elementary, middle, and younger high school students but I am flexible depending on what is being asked and for what subject. I’ve been working with kids in athletics since I was 16 and now I’m 23 years old. From teaching gymnastics to dance, I have learned how to communicate with children of all ages and deliver to them instructions on how to better their skills in whatever they may be.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

Depending on what’s being asked ( homework help, test prep, etc) we will first start by assessing the student’s current progress and then creating a plan for getting them to where they wanna be. Getting a student to UNDERSTAND rather than memorize is a true goal of mine with every skill I teach.  I don’t think I would’ve done well in school if I never understood the material and simply just copied it down, regurgitated it, and forgot about it the next week.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I am currently on my way to pursue my bachelors degree.  I was in all honors classes in high school and graduated with bright futures.

How did you get started teaching?

I’m pursuing this endeavor now because I’m looking for another avenue of work and instead of mindlessly working as a cashier part time I would rather be of service to people and use skills that I already naturally have.

What types of students have you worked with?

I have worked with boys and girls of all ages in athletics and am open to all types of children for acedemics as well.

Describe a recent event you are fond of.

I am fond of my ability to get over hardship and emotional turmoil. This has given me insight to what others are going through and how it can affect their acedemic life.

What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?

I would tell them to find a teacher who is easy to communicate with and feel comfortable around.  It is much easier to learn from someone who “speaks your language” and who you feel you can ask questions with.

What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?

Students should consider what their goals are when asking teachers about their needs. I also feel it is of the teachers responsibility to assess their needs but the teacher will need some guidance from the student as well to direct their path.
