About this tutor

I've been a teacher of high school math to struggling students for 7 years in Orange County. I have taught Remedial Math, Algebra, Algebra II and Geometry. I also volunteer my time to tutor elementary students in the Parramore area. I am familiar with the frustration that a lot of students have with math and I love helping them overcome their difficulties.

I am proficient with a variety of teaching methods that will correspond with a child's learning style. While I enjoy the subjects that I teach and have great appreciation for math, my passion aligns with children growing in understanding and confidence.

FAQs

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

First, I find out what they are wanting to know. I then assess where the learner is their process. From there I introduce a variety of techniques so that the learner can experience the subject area from different approaches that will solidify their understanding and confidence.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I have been a high school math teacher for 7 years.

Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.

50.00/hr for personal tutoring that is at a convenient location for you.

30.00/hr over the phone. (20minute minimum)

How did you get started teaching?

I was in the process of getting my masters degree when it was time to start and provide for my family. I began teaching and have never looked back.

What types of students have you worked with?

I have worked with elementary through high school. All races, backgrounds, and skill level. I am currently teaching geometry, tutoring elementary math, coaching boys and girls high school golf and coaching an elementary chess club.

Describe a recent event you are fond of.

I took my 2 sons to the Orlando Science Center. I love watching them grow and learn and have a blast in the process.

What advice would you give a student looking to hire a tutor in your area of expertise?

I would first say that I am proud of your decision to want to be better. Hire someone whose goal would be to get you to not need a tutor. Hire someone you can trust and who enjoys the process.

What questions should students think through before talking to tutors about their needs?

Why do you want tutoring?

Can you get help for free?

Does the tutor have enough experience with students to anticipate misconceptions and will the tutor help lead them to long term success?
