About
As an experienced teacher, I teach my students tips and tricks so that each lesson makes sense, feels feasible and is doable. These strategies not only help my students answer questions, but they also relieve stress, reduce anxiety and increase motivation and boost confidence.
I specialize in providing individualized instruction for each student. Some students need to "see" the lesson, some need to "hear" it, some need to "feel" it and many learn best from a combination of styles.
Using a multi-sensory approach, I am able to help students learn how to learn. Multi-sensory techniques stimulate the brain in a variety of ways that helps each sensory system develop to a higher level of functioning. This improves brain functions such as listening skills, movement, vision, tactile recognition and conceptualization.
A parent of one of my online students said “Linda is always patient, encouraging and nonjudgmental. She is engaging with Owen without making him feel rushed or judged for what he doesn't know. Provides activities that are challenging but still at his level. Owen doesn't love having to have extra tutoring, but he doesn't fight it when he knows he'll be working with Linda.”
I love having fun and working hard. It's important to me that my students enjoy our lessons and at the same time make big strides and accomplishments in our work together.
I started teaching 30 years ago and still love making class time fun and memorable!

How did you get started teaching?
My grandmother was a teacher and she taught me to read when I was three. I loved grandma's "school", so I taught "grandma's school" for my younger brothers and decided to be a teacher myself.
I started tutoring while I was in high school, continued tutoring while earning my degree and I've been been teaching ever since.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have taught Special Needs, Regular and Advanced/Honors classes in the public schools.
Today, as a private tutor, my students range in age from 4-adult, with and without disabilities.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
In the last month, my students (taking ASVAB, SAT, ACT and other standardized tests) have all reached or exceeded their goal scores and my Teacher Certification students have all passed their exams and are now teachers themselves!
In the fall of 2020, I received a review (see below) from the parent of one of my student's with Special Needs. This student is still with me and has increased her weekly tutoring hours!
"Teacher Linda has done wonders for our daughter! I can't say enough the amazing changes I see in our daughter's willingness to learn and confidence to try. She is excited for her lessons in a way that she never was, and her progress is evident. All this we owe to Teacher Linda- her kindness, patience, and teaching has brought not only joy to our daughter, but in turn our whole family!"
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Tell the teacher what you are looking for in as much detail as possible and ask the teacher how she would accommodate your needs and learning style.
Then be sure you feel comfortable with the teacher.
