Shaniqua Philpot Tutoring
About
I am an avid math learner. In school I always loved math and it was simple concepts to grasp for me. I am not pursuing a Bachelors of Science degree in IT Management. While I was a student in high school I also tutored my classmates and other students on math concepts they didn't understand. After graduating high school I was a tutor to the children in my neighborhood. I am all about the child's growth and understanding of the topics at hand.
I enjoy the children finding out that the problems are not as hard as they think. When they step back outside of their frustrations I enjoy their "AHA" moment, realizing they could have done it all along.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
My typical process when dealing with a new student is to have them show me how they would normally solve the problem. Then I would show them where the mistake was made a take the necessary steps to correct the mistake. I will lead them in the correct direction but will not solve the problem for them. I challenge the student to use their critical thinking skills.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a technical certificate in Customer Support, Associate of Science degree in Information Technology, and currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Technology Management. I was a volunteer tutor in high school and after graduating high school.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
The standard pricing for my lessons is $10/hour. I am available every day except Wednesday and Sunday.
What questions should students think through before talking to tutors about their needs?
The first question the student should think through is, is there another method to solve the problem. If so, what steps should I take to solve them.
