About

I am a certified teacher with 20 years experience in teaching middle school, high school, and college level students. I know that each student learns at their own pace and learning comes in many forms. My goal is to build academic resilient students and help you to build the foundation to succeed in your studies. I offer 1:1 , small group and class pod sessions.

I enjoy helping students discover that they can do math and that math can be fun. Math is actually all around us and I love to show students how math is intertwined in daily life and activities.

Mary did an excellent job tutoring my 13 year old granddaughter in Algebra. She explained things in a way that my granddaughter could understand and she was patient and kind towards my granddaughter. She is also flexible with her schedule. I highly recommend Mary as a tutor.

Mrs. Harris is Amazing! She has a great wealth of experience, skill and knowledge. My son is in the 7th grade, and since he has started tutoring with Mrs. Harris, he has a better understanding of his math class material, and I can see his strides. Mrs. Harris has a unique and productive method of pinpointing my child’s weaknesses, and she then creates a tailored approach to assist him, which has been greatly beneficial to his individual learning process. My son was once struggling, but is now more confident. Mrs. Harris is a GREAT tutor! And I am happy to have found her!

    Frequently asked questions

    Onboarding can take two paths:

    1. Students will receive a skills assessment to see where the areas of need lie. After the assessment, they are asked what type of session 1:1 or small group, number of sessions and days of preference.

    2. Student wants to address skills from school work. A preferred type of session and weekly or biweekly is chosen.

I have taught for 20 years in various settings from middle school to college. I have a BS in Mathematics Education, MA in Curriculum and Instruction, and M.Ed in Education Administration. I am certified in 6 - 12 mathematics. I am certified in k -12 school administration.

    Pricing is per student:

    1:1 is $60 per session

small group (2-5 students) is  $ 40 per student per session.

I have always worked with kids. My knowing my calling for teaching started with homeschooling my own children. I loved seeing the looks of wonder and those "light bulb" moments. I am energized by sharing new topics and ideas and love the energy from students.

I have worked in various settings with all types of students, homeschoolers, at risk, public and private school, and faith based.

Two events that I am fond of are homecoming and graduation.

I love seeing students at homecoming because it is a time of fun, relaxation, dancing and seeing them in all their beauty and joy.

I love graduation because it represents all the hardwork and dedication that the student has put forth for the past years and the promise and potential their tomorrows.

Just talk honestly about you needs and see if the teacher is qualified and both of your personalities mesh.

Think about your learning style and your goals of tutoring. What do you want to get out of your time?
