About
I am an elementary school teacher & tutor with an art degree. I love tutoring school subject areas but I also have a HUGE passion for teaching art! In addition to the above, I have experience tutoring special needs students of every age.
My tutoring/teaching approach is laid back, creative, fun & definitely proves that you don't have to be bored to be able to learn.
I love my job & along with bachelor's degree in teaching, I have an associates degree in graphic design. I love to use art therapy with teaching because I realize that some students need that creative outlet in order to maximize their educational needs.
I have been teaching for 10 years & tutoring for 4. I have excellent references if you would like to review them. One of my biggest accomplishments that I am so proud of involved a first grade student who was diagnosed as being a selective mute. She was in my class when I was student teaching & her teacher told me that she had never uttered a word in her class. She was so incredibly shy that she never gave eye contact to anyone in the class. I started talking to her in February & by the end of April, she was talking in sentences & laughing with her classmates. Her teacher told me she had never seen anything like it. She was so much happier too - I loved being able to help her come out of her shell.
I am looking forward to meeting you & your family & creating an amazing learning path that fits your individual needs.
I LOVE my job each & every day because I know that I am truly making a difference in my student's lives. I love seeing them grow & learn in a more creative approach than just by the book. My passion is art & not only do I teach art related classes but I use art therapy in my educational tutoring. I get so excited when I see my student's eyes light up when I tell them we are going to learn in such a fun & creative way.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I only do online tutoring so I would first set up a free zoom meeting for a half hour to meet the family & student. I love to get to know my students & this is a great opportunity to find out their interests & challenges so that I can create an individual learning plan.
Then if we all agree that it's a good fit, I would set up a schedule moving forward.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education, with over 10 years of teaching experience. I also have an Associate's degree in Graphic Design & have been a freelance artist for over 30 years & an online art tutor for over 5 years. I love teaching, children & art so each day is a fun & rewarding experience for me.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I normally charge $50 per hour for elementary students & $60 an hour for special needs & art lessons.
How did you get started teaching?
When I was growing up, I always said that I wanted to be an artist or a teacher when I got older - I have successfully fulfilled both dreams. I couldn't be happier.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with elementary students, special needs students from pre-k through 9th grade, & have taught art lessons to all ages.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I recently taught an online art class before Christmas making various crafts for Christmas presents. The crafts were simple but so much fun so I had a wide range of ages & we had the best time laughing & creating.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
I would definitely interview the teacher first. You can usually tell right away if they are a good fit or not. If they are not feeling comfortable with that particular tutor, I would tell them to keep looking. The perfect fit will be well worth it.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Students should write out a list with what challenges they are having & what specific areas they are having trouble with. Teachers need to know what target areas must be focused on in order to make the most out of the experience.
