My names are Asong Defang, i'm a graduate from university of Maryland Baltimore County. I'm a tutor/data analyst in the washington metropolitan area. I have been a math tutor for 10 years and its been a passion-driven experience. The problem with students is that its not about them, its about the instructor and most instructors don't take the time to teach mathematics. My experience has been that 70% of the students i tutor did not fail math or have difficulty but fail because of lack of understanding fundamental basis in the math course. That's why i spend time focus on developing my students learning definion of approaching math solving and deriving solutions. I have been successful in passing along this math remedy and that has met with 200 plus students passing their math course with a B or higher. Mathematics has been a passion for me because i love problem solving. I have won math tournament at the prince Georges Commubity college in 2009, Pi Mu Epsilon award in mathematics and summa cum laude as i graduated. I have a LinkedIN account (Asong Defang), Facebook (Asong Defang), and twitter (Asong Defang)
Excellent communicator, punctual, easy going, & very intelligent in his field; just all plausibles.
I take the first 10 minutes to study the students weakness. This is approached by a couple of questions. Are you knew in math?are you versed in the course? does your teacher interact with students? does he/she gives to many homework? how much time do you spend on math course alone?
Such answers to these questions gives me solution and a profile about my students. Its then easier for me to approach per students level/standards
I have a double bachelor degree in mathematics and statistics at University of Maryland
I had a masters degree in DATA ANALYTICS and BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION
I have 10 years of experience in both mathematics and statistics courses. From algebra to calculus; pre statistics to prpbability statistics
I charge $30 per hour but becomes $25 per hour for 2 hours or more
$30= 1 hour
$25=2 hours or more
I started teaching at my first year of college as i was versed in mathematics and problem solving. I decide to attend tutoring seminar meetings in washington dc and virgina. This gave me more passion and approach on not only soving, but helping students understand basic math solving principles
I have worked with students from 11th grade (geometry, algebra, calculus), to masters level (mathematics, statistics)
I attended a math tournament at Roosevelt High School. The competion is all about inspring young kids to excel in math. Th teachers used different level of engagement to guide students on how to approach a math problem. So interesting!
They should give the teacher two or three sessions to see if they can grasp a thing or two in the sense that
Is the teacher actually solving the problem?
Is he/she solving it at the simplest form as possible ?
Does he take questions and go over?
When such are not met, the students have to give the benefit of the doubt as the teacher does not meet a level of epertise?
I believe students to note their point of weakness and strength. Teachers are good at capitalizing on the two so as to draw a picture on how to instruct and solving problems.
