What is your typical process for working with a new student?
New students are usually very shy and lack confidence therefore I start by getting to know their interests. I break the ice by talking about my strengths and weaknesses when I was a student and I use this to find out their strengths and weaknesses. I also inspire them by telling them about how I rose from being a student to obtaining a PhD in biology
Then I find out their challenges in the subject I am teaching. I also ask them about the pace at which they learn and what they plan to achieve at the end of a series of sessions.
