About
I am a dedicated, patient and creative educator with over 15 years of teaching and tutoring experience in the Washington D.C. area. I hold a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education and I am licensed to teach K-6.
Most of my teaching has been with elementary and middle school learners. I am highly skilled in English Language Arts for all levels, including high school, and specialize in literacy intervention. I also have expertise in teaching math, science and social studies. In addition to classroom teaching and academic tutoring, I have extensive experience teaching hands-on, project-based and art-based lessons as well as teaching social-emotional skills.
I tailor tutoring sessions to each learner's unique learning styles, interests, needs and strengths. I am passionate about helping learners build their self-confidence and finding creative ways to make learning fun and relevant. It's important to me to take time to get to know learners during our sessions so they feel comfortable and so I can most effectively meet their needs.
I have always loved connecting with kids and, as a life-long learner, I have always loved being part of their learning processes. Witnessing their growth is deeply exciting and crafting curricula to meet each learner's complex combination of needs is a fun creative challenge. I am always learning more, finding new ways to teach or learn a concept, and striving to make learning an enriching and engaging experience. I truly enjoy building relationships with young people and helping them build skills and mindsets that will make them successful not only in school but in life.
