I have worked in education for 7 years now and I truly believe that our ability to impart knowledge to others is one of the greatest gifts we have.
Over the years, both teaching and tutoring have been monumental in shaping me into who I am today. One of my favorite aspects of the work I do is the special "aha" moment when the light bulb goes off and a student "get's it", the "it" being whatever concept or strategy we have been working on.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
- My number one goal is to set all tutoring sessions up for success, therefore, a warm and friendly environment is always maintained throughout session. I believe setting a positive and patient tone is crucial. It is important for the tutee to initiate and identify the focus of the session, followed by me asking necessary questions to clarify the tutee's main concern. I believe it is crucial to keep the tutee involved in the organization of the session, because they are ultimately in charge of the learning that will take place, thus fostering their independence. I provide opportunities for both the tutee and myself to break the task into manageable pieces.
