About

There has never been a moment when I haven’t loved reading and writing. I’ve been a voracious reader and writer for as long as I can remember, and I can only hope I impart this same passion to students. As an undergraduate student and English major at the University of Connecticut, I was a New England Scholar, Hufsader Award Nominee, Honors Scholar, and Phi Beta Kappa inductee. After completing AP Literature courses with high marks, I enrolled in advanced-level writing and literature courses. However, enrolling in 5+ English classes a semester hardly put a dent in my interest. In fact, this was the same drive that brought me to become a Writing Center tutor and Outreach Advisor for college-level and adults for four years, a freelance editor for over five years, a classroom assistant in English classes at a local high school for a year, and a tutor for middle grade and elementary grade students in an afterschool program for two years, among other related endeavors. I’m now a doctoral student, fellow, and training teaching assistant in English at Brown University.

I work primarily with high school students, college/university students (including graduate-level), and adults in classes related to writing, rhetoric, reading, proofreading, grammar, editing, ACT English test-taking, GRE Verbal and Analytical Writing test-taking, and more. At Brown, I specialize in American Literature and take wide-ranging coursework to become versed in the field, so I am very familiar with the American and British literary canon from the 16th to the 21st century, including Shakespeare, Victorian Literature, and twentieth-century American and British literature. Previously, I held a competitive Mellon fellowship from the University of Pennsylvania in the English Department, which further steeped my training in literary scholarship.

I can help students proofread their work, construct new thesis statements, finalize any outlines, and sort out organization in completed (or works in progress) drafts, among other projects. I am also proficient in APA and MLA citation formatting and I have experience working with papers in STEM, social science, and humanities disciplines, including creative writing manuscripts. My firm belief in “practice makes perfect” informs my tutoring style, so you can definitely expect collaboration shared between myself and the student, as well as creative prompts and exercises to foster growth!
