About
Hi there, I'm Christina! Including 6 years as a high school math teacher, I have been working with young people for over 20 years in various mentoring, tutoring, and teaching capacities. When I was teaching in the classroom, I taught Pre-Algebra (7th-8th grade math), Algebra 1, and Algebra 2. Now, I teach/tutor students these subjects, including College Algebra and providing homeschooling support, online. I have been blessed to help countless students overcome their challenges with math and get to a place where they could persevere through a variety of problems and finally achieve success in their math class, from understanding the material to making incredible gains on their End-of-Course state exams.
I'm a patient and thorough instructor. I don't just show or tell students how to do a problem. I help them access what they already know, and fill in any missing gaps, so they can apply it for themselves. Everyone is capable of learning and doing math, and I love helping students realize that that includes them!
I have a B.S. in Mathematics from Spelman College and extensive graduate-level pedagogical coursework from SUNY Empire State College and Western Governors University, including that pertaining to child & adolescent development, secondary math instruction, and teaching students with learning differences.
When my students experience those "YES, I AM A MATH GENIUS!!!!" moments...that's the best part of what I do! That's when they've come to realize what I knew all along - they CAN learn math and they CAN do math successfully!
One past student said, "I hated math, but she helped me to overcome my fear of it. I'd recommend her to anyone. She's kind, intelligent, patient, so helpful, and just a great person with a gift for teaching."
Another said, "She was able to help me with math at the point when I was ready to give up...Along with her making it fun and understandable...If I had any troubles with a certain math problem she would be the first person I go to. She is a kind caring woman and has patience with everything. She doesn't give up and is very determined to make sure her students understand the work."
Teaching and tutoring is my passion, and my ultimate goal is to empower students all over the world to succeed by helping them overcome their struggles and anxiety in one of their toughest academic areas, math!
If this is you or your child, then feel free to reach out to further discuss your or your child's needs!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
We have a free consultation where I get to learn more about the student and their struggles. If necessary, I will give the student an assessment or schedule one. Afterwards, we discuss my findings and/or recommendations, how online tutoring works, and answer any questions they have.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
In addition to being a Certified Teen Coach, I have a B.S. in Mathematics from Spelman College and extensive graduate-level pedagogical coursework from SUNY Empire State College and Western Governors University, including that pertaining to child & adolescent development, secondary math instruction, and teaching students with special needs.
Most importantly, I have been working with young people for over 20 years in coaching, mentoring, tutoring, and teaching capacities. I have been blessed to help countless students overcome their challenges with math and get to a place where they could persevere through a variety of problems and finally achieve success in their math class.
How did you get started teaching?
Well, when I first graduated college, I went off to work in Corporate America, and then later transitioned to teaching high school math. However, I eventually realized I needed to make a change. After working with young people in various capacities for over 20 years, I realized I wanted to do more to positively impact the younger generation, today's future. So, I started my own business where I could provide young people with the strategic and targeted support they need and deserve.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
- What is my goal?
- What is holding my back?
- Out of the things I listed for the previous question, what can I personally control?
- How committed am I to doing the work necessary to achieve my goal?
