I am currently a student teacher in a first grade classroom. I love teaching math and helping any student with math. I took all levels of Algebra in high school and took a college algebra course. Math can be fun and it’s super exciting to learn more!
I enjoy seeing a student excited to learn and finally understanding what they are learning. It makes me proud to see a student excited about math when it can be frustrating at times. Many students are scared of math, but math can be a lot of fun!

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I like to get to know the student, what their interests are, and what makes them excited to learn. It’s super important to try and incorporate their interests in a lesson to make it more exciting for them.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have taken many Algebra classes. I also took math classes in college specifically on how to teach math for different ages since I have a Bachelors in Elementary Education and am a first grade teacher.
How did you get started teaching?
I have always had a passion for teaching. Ever since I was young, I knew I wanted to be a teacher.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with many different students. I have worked with students in low socioeconomic areas, different age ranges, and many different leveled students.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
They should think about what they want to gain from a teacher or tutor. They should think about what they want to accomplish at the end of each lesson.
