Growing Math Skills
About
I'm a firefighter in the Air Force and I love to help people. Children and their education means a lot to me because they are our future. If a child is stuggling to grasp a concept in math or is struggling to learn, I find it very important to help them push through that struggle and expand their knowledge.
I enjoy working with kids because I know that for some, if they can't seem to learn something, it may bring them down. I want them to learn what the subject they are stuggling with and also learn to stay positive. As a firefighter, I work with many people on a daily basis, including children. Through this, I have learned how every person is different and how to interact with them in different ways.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Getting to know the student and how their mind works is very important. So talking to them for the first five minutes is important to understand how you may have to change your teaching style to benefit them.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have no teaching certificates or education, but I have been helping people with math since I was a sophomore in high school. I did take college classes in high school and I went to college before joining the Air Force. I still study myself so that I can go back to school and become a paramedic.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I don't have a pricing system. I will talk to the customer and see what works best for them. I understand that money isn't always a luxury, so I will work with the customer for pricing.
How did you get started teaching?
I just started helping out friends in school and then moved on to helping kids that I knew in my community and now I want broaden my audience and help others.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with ages 5-18.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Find someone who is looking to help you in the area the way you understand. Not all minds work the same. The way that I learn is not the same as the way you do. Find someone who is willing to change their teaching methods to help and accomodate you the best they can.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Think about what you're needing help with. Is it understanding a specific type of question? Or is it understanding a whole chapter of a spefic type of math? If you can't figure these out, ask your tutor and they be able to help you.
