About

I have 3 years of experience in the classroom in 1st and 2nd grade between a public school and a private school, and have experience in all grade levels K-5th. I have my Masters in Elem. Education, and love to continue my own personal education any way I can. I believe that every student can learn, and love discovering different strategies to help those student's out. I like hands-on learning and critical thinking strategies. I would love to help any student who needs more one-on-one.

My favorite in teaching is watching students make goals, and then reach them. Their excitement radiates through them when they realize their accomplishments. My hope is that once students start feeling successful they will go on to continue that success.

Ms Lauren made my sons 1st Grade experience just amazing. She was so kind and calm yet was able to get my son to listen well and improve in all his subjects in school. I looked forward to dropping him off with her knowing whatever mood he was in, she would comfort and encourage him. Her dedication and patience with my son as well as the rest of the class, amazed me! I would use her as a tutor outside of his teachers this year if need be in a heart beat!

Frequently asked questions

I believe in building a relationship with every student; therefore, I like to play short educational games with every student. This allows me to get to know the student's background as well as learning styles and it allows the student to open up and feel more comfortable with me.

I have a Masters in Elementary Education, and 3 years of teaching 1st and 2nd grade general education in the classroom. Before teaching inside the classroom I was a substitute for every grade level K-5th, and also tutored students in english and math.

I charge $20 per hour for one student. Price is negotiable for multiple students.

My best friend needed help with her two kids and I volunteered to help her. This was the best experience I could have hoped for. I learned how much I loved working with her boys with their homework, and how much I enjoy finding different activities and strategies for multiple learning techniques. I fell in love with watching these boys reach their goals and become excited about learning again. I will always thank them for showing me my passion for teaching.

I have experience with ADHD, autism, and processing disorders. I have also experienced multiple behaviors inside the classroom and while tutoring.

This past year I had a student with high functioning autism who displayed multiple behaviors and outbursts. We started out the year as normal, each trying to figure each other out and to trust each other. Slowly, we made small progress, step by step throughout the year. I left this year on my maternity leave and I came back to visit with the new baby, and she saw me walking in and ran to me, gave me a huge hug, and said "you make my heart happy.". It was such a small sentence, however, for her and me it meant acceptance and trust. I was so proud of how much she accomplished throughout the year, now only with academics, but socio-emotional as well. I will remember her the most because it reminds me how important a relationship with a student is.

I would look for qualifications and teaching style. I personally would want to look for teaching style first because it will help determine if personalities will match for success.

How do I learn best? What are my strengths, and what are my weaknesses? What are my academic goals? How can you meet those goals?
