About
I am available Mon - Fri 12 - 4pm!! I also have Saturday hours availabe. I have common core background as a teacher along with traditional studies too!
I desire to help all students understand the concepts behind math skills and to extinguish the misconception of not everyone can do math. My company name, Mission Math is Possible says it all. Math is possible for everyone. My goal is also to make math fun and relatable to whatever hobbies, sports, interests, and career choices my students have.
I have been tutoring math successfully for 10 plus years. My bachelor degree is in math and science and my masters is in secondary education. I have taught algebra 1 & 2, trigonometry, and pre-calculus along with general Ed classes at Mt. San Jacinto College. I am currently teaching GED and Highschool Plus classes through Walla Walla Comunity College at the Washington State Peniteniary in Walla Walla. Teaching is my passion!
I love math, teaching, and kids (young and old) so being a math tutor is the best of all worlds! I also love to help my students believe in themselves and the incredible mind they have. I like having the opportunity to be a positive role model for my students!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Finding out the student's learning style is influential to their success. I usually like to either ask them questions which will allow me to find their learning style or have them take a brief Q&A online. Based on the result - for example if they are a tactile learner - I would focus on more hands-on learning and once they seem to grasp a skill I would have them teach me.
I also think it is important to get to know my student's interests and hobbies and develop a teacher/student friendship. I never talk down to me students and I try to making learning fun.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been teaching math, science, and physical education for at least 15 years. I realize the importance of letting my students take mini breaks so they can get up and move and keep their brains awake - especially after a day of school.
I also have a bachelor degree in math & science and a masters in secondary education. I am currently working on a masters in mathematics. I love math and science and I try to make my passion contagious.
I have taught from preK to high school and now I am teaching GED courses at MSJC. I actually studied Common Core Math when it was first being introduced so I have a very strong grasp of the CC vocabulary and style of teaching from elementary to secondary education.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Because of Covid - I have been tutoring via Zoom and using a document camera or the whiteboard on Zoom. As I am not traveling I changed my rate to $25 per hour.
How did you get started teaching?
I have wanted to be a teacher as long as I can remember. I was given a small standing chalkboard and from then on I was teaching my dolls and playing school with my friends. I originally went to college to study medicine, but by the 2nd quarter of my freshman year at Oregon State, I knew I was meant to be a teacher and from their I fell in love with teaching.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with all learning styles and helped many students who were struggling in math and other subjects because they did not understand how they learned and had basically given up. To watch a student's eyes light up once they discover how they learn is the best part of teaching and tutoring!
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
The most important things to ask a teacher is if they teach to different learning styles and if they are comfortable with providing more than one way to get an answer in math. Some teachers teach only one direction, when math can be multi-faceted.
