I'm delighted to have the opportunity to introduce myself to you. My name is Suvarna Shankar, and I've been working in the field of education for nine years. During this time, I've had the privilege of teaching in both private and charter schools, gaining valuable experience and insight into various educational settings.
I hold a Masters in Education and Leadership from Mills College, Oakland, which has equipped me with the knowledge and skills necessary to excel in my role as an educator. Additionally, I am a part-time instructor at AOPS (Art of Problem Solving), where I have the chance to engage with students who are passionate about mathematics and problem-solving.
Teaching isn't just a job for me; it's my passion. I love nothing more than seeing students light up with understanding and excitement as they grasp new concepts or overcome challenges. Witnessing their growth and development is incredibly rewarding and motivates me to continually strive for excellence in my teaching.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I do an assessment first to know the child's knowledge of the subject. Set up an appointment to meet the parents and discuss the goals. Have a plan and work on progress. Assess the child every two weeks to make sure he/she is on the right learning trajectory.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a teacher at a private school. And I love teaching and love kids to be accelerated at a young age.
How did you get started teaching?
I have been teaching my kids at home and to see them in accelerated learning, My Daughter's School Principal called me in for an interview and offered me a job. from then on I have never looked back. I have got my credentials in education working on my master's in leadership program currently.
What types of students have you worked with?
Kindergarten and elementary. Also dyslexic kids .
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
come in happy with an open mind and see the change you bring in your learning journey.
