I've been private tutoring for over 9 years, primarily in math and science. From tutoring to being an academic coach, I have learned and refined many skills while maintaining and promoting a growth mindset. An example of this is having to determine why and/or where the student is stuck on a particular topic. I help guide the student to his/her main point of confusion so that we, as a team, can create strategies to approach it. I also have experience working with dyslexic and dyscalculic students.
I also have a teaching credential as a Master's in Education.
My favorite part about tutoring is when the concept finally clicks and students have that "OHHH" moment.
For the duration of my high school year, she has navigated me through every adversity, which has stimulated my learning in the math and science subjects. In just the span of my freshman year of high school, Vivian’s contribution to my learning led to the completion of not only Algebra I, Geometry, and Algebra II, but also the beginning of Pre-Calculus. Vivian’s unparalleled ambition to bolster student learning is one you’ll never forget.
I assess where the student's main points of confusion are and then from there, I clarify them. After that, I create a plan based on the needs of the student (organizational skills, homework help, test review, etc.)
