Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I usually start by gauging the student's level of understanding for different subjects by quizzing them on core concepts. Then I would focus on fixing the most foundational problems I see in their understanding then build up from there.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have excelled in college and graduate level Biology, Math, Chemistry, and Chinese courses.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
My rate is 55-65$ per hour, depending on the subject.
How did you get started teaching?
Through out my undergraduate studies, I saw many of my fellow classmates struggling with understanding different studying materials; this led me to start holding my own tutoring sessions to help them grasp the materials better.
What types of students have you worked with?
College and middle school students
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Make sure you are comfortable with the tutor where you are able to freely express your questions and doubts on the subjects.
No questions are silly as each one of them will strengthen and deepen your understanding.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
The student should try to think from the teacher's perspective and imagine how they would be tested to ensure their understanding of the concepts.
