About
I was a computer science major in college. I have done substitute teaching 2-3 times per week since 2003, helping thousands of kids in that time, especially in math which was always my strong area. On the SATs, I got at 740 out of the 800 on the math section. I also tutor in public speaking skills so the one-on-one setting is familiar to me.
There's a wonderful satisfaction in the look or expression of "I get it now!" that makes me love what I do.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I have him/her share with me what he has been doing, what he feels he CAN handle, and then begin introducing new problems that step up from there, not moving on until there's a sense of mastery of the second step.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
15+ years substitute teaching in four districts (San Diego Unified, South Bay Unified, Chula Vista Elementary, and San Ysidro)
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
$75/hr if I come to you.
$65 if you come to my home, but the parent must stay in that case.
How did you get started teaching?
I applied for substitute teaching to make extra money long ago and just never stopped! had already done work with kids in theatre afterschool programs.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Don't settle on the first one. How much s/he likes the person will influence how much effort s/he puts into it!
