Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
The first step for me is to develop rapport as I seek to understand the student's needs. The next step in the process is to assess the students baseline math comprehension, explain what the student does not understand and than find the most appropriate way to challenge the student.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Bachelor degree in Computer Science and Information Technology, Associate Degree in Business, and Associate Degree in Social Science. I have worked with many tutoring companies and with students from various backgrounds, disabilities, ethnicities and social status.

How did you get started teaching?
During High School, I was a 4.0 student in math and English. I was asked by my instructors, to help others with those subjects. There is where I found my passion for tutoring.
What types of students have you worked with?
After 20 years of tutoring, I am proud to say that I have worked with a wide variety of students. This includes students with autism, ADHD, ADD, math anxiety, learning disabilities as well as students with behavioral problems such a opposition defiant disorder and conduct disorders.

A text message from one of my students, who struggled immensely with math, sharing that she scored 105.5% out of 100 on her last math test.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
I would advise a student to carefully read said tutors reviews and to reach out to prior students to verify authenticity of reviews.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Students should consider what the exact problem is that they are faced with, be prepared to demonstrate to the teacher where exactly, said student is stuck and be open to new learning methods.
