My very intelligent 12 year old son laying on the floor reading his first full chaper book without any incentive but sheer interest after working so hard with tutors to break the reading code.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
It is important to find someone who you feel comfortable taking risks with iwho willbe supportive and open to presenting materials in a variety of ways.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
To not be afraid or embarrassed if she/he doesn’t understand yet. Remember that everyone struggles in some area or another and is strong and capable in orhers. Trust that your needs are important and assume the Teacher is trying her best, but needs more information on how you learn best.
