About
Hello! I am Ivey, and I really want to help students improve their English. I can tutor anybody, but if you are from China, I especially recommend you to be my student. I've gained an amazing privilege to have my parents are from China, so I am able to speak Mandarin. If you are having trouble with English and you are from China, we'll be able to still communicate with no language barrier.
Ever since quarantine has started, I've always wanted to help people learn English, and I have been tutoring people on HelloTalk, an app. I was able to help students pass their exams, help with their homework, and become friends with them. It was most definitely very enjoyable, and my passion for teaching English has gone up ever since.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I want to get to know them first, so we will discuss about where we are from, what we like to do, etc. Then we will discuss on what specifically they need to work on, whether it be grammar, vocabulary, pronuncation, etc. I will make sure the student is ok with whatever we want to do next.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I've tutored tens of students on HelloTalk, and app. I was able to not only make a lot of friends, but help a lot of people out on their conversation skills, grammar, pronunciation, vocabulary, homework, and test preparation.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
No, I like doing this for fun, so the pricing may be a little cheaper than the normal prices you see.
How did you get started teaching?
I just realized how privileged I was to be fluent in English while knowing Chinese, and I wanted to use that skill to help others.
What types of students have you worked with?
I've worked with mainly high schoolers. I think that is so because they are usually the ones that need the most English help for school.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Make sure that you have a connection with the student so they are more comfortable with you.
