Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I like to begin by having my students set goals, which we review every week. We also go over the material that they master and the material they're having a harder time grappling with. From there, we make a plan for the time we have together!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a student at Stanford University, pursuing an M.S. and a B.S. I have completed Purdue's Tutor Essentials Course.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Usually, I charge $40/hour (first class free of charge). However, if you can't afford that, definitely email me at [email protected] and we can figure something out!
How did you get started teaching?
I had a teacher my senior year of high school who dedicated her time to explain every concept to the class clearly and in a way that every student could understand. Her teaching philosophy was to help students understand how to get to the formula, instead of teaching them what the formula is. I try to apply her techniques every day with my students!
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with students of all ages. From tutoring 7 year-olds in Spanish to teaching math to middle school students to prepping high school students for the ACT/SAT, my tutoring services span across ages and subjects!
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Despite the unfortunate news of the COVID-19, staying at home has been a wake-up call for me to do things I love more, those being teaching, meditating and cooking! I am excited to share my passions with others :)
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Give it a try! Our first-class is free -- no commitments, no strings attached. We both get to decide whether or not we're a good fit. Also, feel free to shoot me a message at (650) 799-6867 if you want to ask me about your specific needs.
