About
I am passionate about both English and my students and helping all students be able to succeed in their reading, writing, and learning goals. I have been teaching and tutoring for 4 years. I am a recent graduate of UC Berkeley where I studied English. In my undergraduate years, I tutored many college freshmen in their writing courses, taught a middle school creative writing course, tutored and taught college essay writing and application prep to high schoolers, and tutored high schoolers who needed help in their English courses. Currently, I am a Stanford University graduate student obtaining a Masters in Education and a teacher's credential. I am also student teaching in middle and high schools.
I enjoy sharing my love of English with my students, whether it be helping them have "lightbulb" moments with difficult texts or helping them shape their writing to become powerful pieces that reflect their unique voices and identities. I believe that every student can be a strong writer and reader and in doing so feel empowered in both their academic studies and in any of their future goals.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I like to spend some time getting to know new students and get a sense of their interests, their strengths, their learning goals, and their challenges in the subject. I assess what students need in order to succeed and create goals based off of these. I then design a curriculum individualized to the student that I believe will best create a progression for the student to reach learning goals. I am adaptive when need be.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a bachelor's degree from UC Berkeley in English. I have received teaching and tutoring training from graduate students I've worked with in my previous tutoring position. I have also done extensive research in tutoring. I am currently a graduate student at Stanford where I am studying to obtain my Master's in Education as well as my teaching credential. I am training as a student teacher as well.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I charge $50 per hour.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with many different types of students from elementary schoolers to adults. I have the most experience with young adults especially middle and high schoolers. However, I enjoy teaching all age groups.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
I would advise that you find a teacher that can both challenge and support you to the extents that you need. I also find it valuable to find a teacher that you can feel comfortable with and build rapport with in order to have a positive working relationship. Always feel free to ask for trial lessons or ask all of the questions that you may have in order to feel sure about choosing a teacher.
