My specialty is working with students who think math is some mysterious entity that they can never 'get'. I love the moment when it clicks for them and they realize that they CAN be successful in math.
I started teaching high school math in 1971 and retired in 2013. Now I enjoy working with 3 or 4 students who really want to conquer their math anxiety.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
With a new student, I back track to where math started to be a problem for them. We then follow their teachers curriculum while adding in 'fixing' the problems that encountered in the past.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a BA in Mathematics, A masters in Math Education, have worked for the Santa Clara County Board of Education on their after school television/telephone math helpline, and instituted a high school remedial math program that earned a California Distinguished School award.
