About

I'm a PhD student working on research in artifical intelligence, so I work with math and computer science concepts every single day! I see teaching as being a vital part of my career and I am working towards the goal of becoming a full professor. Over the years I've taught a wide range of students, from middle school through college, and helped students with a variety of learning styles to succeed in math and science.

I enjoy working on hard problems with real world impacts, which is why I love being a researcher in an exciting, fast-paced field like artificial intelligence.

I also love working with students and getting them excited about math and science! I enjoy finding creative ways to explain difficult concepts. Everyone has different ways of understanding new ideas and finding the right approach for a new student is a fun and rewarding problem solving exercise.

Frequently asked questions

I like to dive right in to looking at the material the students are studying. I find that students often have trouble articulating exactly what they are stuck on, so talking through the material can help me to see where to focus my efforts. Once we have a problem to work on, I try to find a way of explaining the concepts that works well for the student.

I did a full-time internship as a middle school teacher at the East Harlem School in New York, where I taught 6th grade math and a robotics elective.

Between college and grad school, I've worked as a teaching assistant for more than 10 semesters/quarters, assisting with 4 different computer science courses at 3 different universities. As part of this I've worked one-on-one with students, lectured, held seminars and developed course materials. For 2 semesters I was the head teaching assistant for Introduction to Computer Science, hiring and overseeing a staff of more than 50 other TAs.

I have also tutored high school students in math in the past. As a 4th year PhD student, I also mentor younger PhD students and undergraduates in research.

I generally charge a flat rate of $50 per hour-long session. Please note that it takes me time to prepare for each session and to travel to you. Feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns about pricing.
