About
Starting from four years ago, I have been involved in my community's STARS tutoring service! I have worked with students of all ages, from Kindergarteners to High School Juniors. On top of that, I was also part of my school's selective peer tutoring team as well as a private tutor.
In terms of subjects, I have had experience in teaching all math levels through AP Calculus, science through Honors Chemistry, and all levels of English. On top of that, I am also currently a piano teacher, working almost ten hours per week.
Worried about meeting in person? No problem! Zoom has become a great and effective platform for tutoring, as all the work I am doing now is online.
Lastly, as an Asian American immigrant, I have the advantage of being bilingual in English and Mandarin. I would be happy to communicate in both if needed.
PLEASE leave me your contact info or feel free to contact me through my cell!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Just contact me with the student's age and intended subject for tutoring! We can work out time commitment and other needs together!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am an incoming college freshman enrolled at Carnegie Mellon University and I have had a bunch of experience as a tutor. Please see the "about me" portion to learn more!
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
As a standard, I tutor at $15 an hour. However, depending on the circumstances, this may be higher or lower. The harder the subject, the more I have to prepare in order to provide an amazing session, thus the higher the rate.
How did you get started teaching?
I started teaching as a volunteer tutor once a week, then that escalated to becoming a peer tutor as well. Through word of mouth, more and more peers came to me for help, seeing the results they had from my students! Then I also became a private tutor for family friends, as they saw how well I work with kids. With more free time in my senior year of High School, I also started teaching piano at an academy.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with students of all ages, from Kindergarten through High School seniors. Additionally, I have tutored those with Mandarin as their primary language and communicated with them bilingually. Through involvement in a High School club, I also have experience with special needs kids, particularly those with autism.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Look for a tutor that suits your needs and style! It is always important to be enjoying the learning process, as it will be much more effective that way.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Before each session, make sure to review the topics and have questions ready for the tutor! Also think about how you learn the most effectively and make that clear. We want to help you to the best of our abilities!
