About

Hey! I am a credentialed mathematics teacher with over 6 years full-time experience teaching middle school math, Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2, and Pre-Calculus (or Math I, II, III, and IV equivalents). I currently teach at a local high school in Escondido, mainly to students with special needs and struggling students. I spent an entire year teaching 7th grade math so I also have good experience with middle schoolers. I am gifted at connecting with students and explaining mathematics concepts in a way they can clearly understand. I love playing sports, going to concerts, adventuring to national parks, traveling internationally, and being part of the local church so I can usually find something significant to connect on which makes the tutoring more effective. I have been tutoring privately for over 9 years now.

I love helping kids achieve success in math when they thought that they were unable to. I enjoy connecting with kids on a more relational level over time which increases the effectiveness of the math tutoring. I love the feeling of seeing a family overjoyed when their kid passes the math class when they thought that wasn't possible.

Without Mr. Warwicks help Im not sure that my son would have passed math!! Math has always been a struggle for my son, his last math class was the hardest. (High school) I wish I would have found Mr. Warwick sooner his tutoring made all the difference. Mr.Warwick was always very flexible working around our crazy schedules and was willing to schedule extra time when my son had a test to prepare for. I will always be thankful that we found him!

Frequently asked questions

I usually meet up at a local coffee shop, get to know each other for the first 10 minutes or so, and get a good picture about where they are at in their mathematical understanding. I find out what is easier for them, what is difficult, and what gaps they think they have from past years of misunderstanding. After that, we jump into current homework or study guides and if we have time after completing that then we go back and practice filling in some of the gaps, or we can spend dedicated sessions on remediation of those gaps in understanding. Each session after the introductory session I will do a quick check-in about their week for a couple of minutes and continue building that connection, but tend to try to redirect it towards the math content as soon as possible in order to maximize the use of time.

I have a teaching credential in Single Subject Mathematics which allows me to teach math ranging from 6th grade to Pre-Calculus (Math IV). I also have a teaching credential in Multiple Subjects which allows me to teach kids from Kindergarten to 5th grade.

I charge $50/hr either cash or venmo. I am willing to negotiate a lower price if someone is willing to pre-pay for booking 10 sessions or can recruit other students for a small group session (up to 3 kids per session).

I decided to become a mathematics teacher when I was about halfway through college after weighing the reality of becoming an architect and deciding against that. I began private tutoring right away with a company to gain mathematics tutoring experience and did that for the last two years of college. Right after college, I completed a credential program that had me complete 16 weeks of full-time student teaching in a mathematics classroom. I have been teaching full-time to middle schoolers and high schoolers since that time.
