Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I will go in and see what the student is struggling with on the first day. We call this assessment, and usually they will be able to show where the holes are in their learning, but not always. If that is the case, I will watch them do a few problems, where they will ask questions.
Once the points of focus are identified I will teach the areas of concern, using online resources and problem sets along with a personalized, more in-depth explanation from me. We believe in active learning, so I will usually have the student explain the concept back to me so I can be sure they have understood.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
4 years of extremely rigorous high school at the #1 bording prep school in the nation (Phillips Academy Andover) where I was a student tutor. 1590 SAT, 800 Math, 790 Reading. UCLA Student.
