I began my teaching career immediately upon gratuating from college in 1964.
I have worked with a diverse group of students throughout my educational career as a classroom teacher, school counselor and school administrator in a large metropolitian school district.
I worked with a student in 5th grade who was having problems with organization and not taking school seriously. After working through some difficult study habits and learning skills, she finished the school year very successfully.
I would advise a student to be organized and assess his/her skills, be serious about learning and be prepared to do the work it takes to be successful.
I would encourage the student to ask if he/she has put forth their best effort; idnetify the problem they perceive themselves having nd if they are open to receiving help to become successful. Are they willing to do the work?
