My name is Andrew Jin, and I'm a doctoral student at the University of Southern California, where I also earned my master's degree in Applied Data Science at USC and a bachelors in Environmental Engineering from UC Berkeley.I have worked as a tutor and student research mentor in various capacities over the past 8 years. My focus in tutoring centers on mathematics and science, particularly aimed at equipping students with practical skills vital for college success. I have extensive experience in teaching AP Statistics and AP Physics, and I also specialize in assisting students in crafting personal statements for undergraduate, graduate school, and medical school applications. What sets my teaching apart is my commitment to tailoring the educational experience to each student's unique needs and goals. I leverage my research background to instill a passion for STEM and research in my students.
I am passionate about teaching and supporting students, and have held roles such as being a nationally recognized moderator in the National Science Bowl competition, in which thousands of middle school and high school competitors annually. Beyond academics, I am passionate about fostering well-rounded success. I previously captained the UC Berkeley fencing team to become one of the top 5 club teams nationally, specifically by developing structures for continued learning and balancing academics and athletics.
