About
Hello, I am Stephen Thompson. I am an High-Impact Private Instructor, which is to say I make targeted programs to get my students from confustion to confidence with as little hassle as possible.
As parents you work hard enough already wearing many hats. The teacher's schoolcap needn't be one of them. Let a professional instructor, like me, ease the burden of teaching from you and the difficulty of learning with no real guide from your students.
I've been teaching others for over 12 years straight now. I started teaching fellow students becuase I saw them struggling to understand even with help from other students. I had already leared the material and was taught that "You don't truly know it until you can teach it." by my grandmother. So I offered help first in Math and then in Writing critques.
In college I began a part-time job at a tutoring center as a Grader and now I've taught well over 1000 students since then, both within the centers I eventually wound up running/assisting and privately. In my last position I was the Assosciate Director of one of the largest and most successful single centers within that franchise.
I have run an SAT preparation program as well as general High School test prep. I specialize in higher mathematics, writing critique and science for my students.
To ease some of the burden on parents and students alike I also incorporate teaching my students how to study better and utilize their time in the best possible manner.
*With Quarantine I opened up the option for Remote Session tutoring to all students at a reduced rate.*
Please message me for information on session packages and pricing.
I enjoy heloing my students to have "Light of Understanding" moments the most.
A "Light of Understanding: moment is when a student goes from confusion and a furrowed to a lit up face, typically with a wide smile as they finally realize in full something that has bothered them for however long they've had the problem.
It brings me a great deal of joy to know that I assisted my student in clearing that confusion.
