About
I have enjoyed being a mom, homeschool instructor, substitute teacher, and literacy instructor. I've spent 20 years working with youth through tutoring, substitute teaching, volunteering, and non-profit work. I used to tutor full-time from my home based business, Early Literacy Interventions, and am watching my students now graduate from high school and attend college. I am tutoring part-time now from home or online. I am trained in the Wilson Language Fundations, Just Words, and Reading Systems for Dyslexics.

I also use Wilson to teach systematic handwriting and cursive instruction, upon request. My degrees aren’t in teaching but teaching is a part of the daily job! I have a BS degree in Health Care Management as well as a degree in Dental Hygiene. Although I have loved helping my patients for over 23 years, I also have a passion for learning and teaching - so private and group tutoring helps me do both :)
I love seeing students succeed! I love helping people! I used to coach youth sports as well and received the following awards:
YMCA Asset Champion Nominee - Adult Role Model
YMCA Philanthropy Award Recipient
Proctor & Gamble Preventive Dentistry Award

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I usually like to do an introduction over FaceTime with new students (if underage, I prefer that this occurs with the parents at the same time.) Once I understand what the needs are, then I can offer tutoring sessions straight away, or if a learning issue is suspected in the English Language, then I can offer an assessment before tutoring sessions begin. Language assessments, if needed, are at an additional cost.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I did not go to college to become a teacher, however, I've spent nearly 15 years educating myself on specific teaching methods to help many kids succeed in school, including my own children. I am extremely knowledgable in working with children who learn differntly and offer multisensory methods to help when needed. A side note: I do hold a Bachelor's Degree in Healthcare Management, and an additional 2-year degree in Dental Hygiene as well. Being a dental hygienist for 23 years has also taught me how to educate through chairside oral hygiene education, which I am known for in our practice.
