Brilliant Minds OC
About
I am always excited to see my students and will attend to your child's needs with positivity and enthusiasm! My goal is success, so I work very hard to personalize curricula to meet each students academic goals as well as their personal interests. My 20 years of experience working in the classroom and private tutoring has provided me with a wealth of resources, materials, and activities to give every student an opporunity to grow!
My favorite part of teaching is the ah-ha moment a student experiences when the puzzle pieces of a new or challenging concept fit together in their mind and they find success! I love working with special needs students and meeting the particular needs of students with Autism, Down's syndrome, Sensory Processing Disorders, ADHD, and more!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I have a personalized intake form I ask families to complete prior to our initial session. I also communicate directly with families about the specific goals they have for their child. Additionally I ask families to share the most recent progress reports from their school teachers. Using all of this information I create a first session assessment lesson that will help me gauge a Student's current learning levels.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
In addition to the nearly 20 years of experience I have in classroom teaching and private tutoring, I also hold a Bachelor's and a Master's degrees, as well as a Montessori elementary teaching certification.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Private lessons start at $55/hr, which includes all of my own materials that are individualized to each child's specific learning goals.
How did you get started teaching?
I began teaching toddlers and preschoolers the year after I graduated from college in a family friend's Montessori school. From there I became fascinated with the Montessori method. I decided to work toward a Montessori teaching certification for Elementary. For a few more years I continued my education, taking child development and early childhood education. Several years later I returned to graduate school and earned my Master's degree in Elementary Education with an emphasis in early childhood.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have experience teaching and tutoring students age 2-11, or Pre-K through grade 7. I have also worked with students learning English as well as students with special needs, such as autism and dyslexia.
