As a retired high school English teacher with both public and private school teaching experience, I have a passion for literature and writing. My favorite aspect of English is literary analysis---all the elements and how they apply to the story. I still occasionally substitute for the Glendale Union High School District. Additionally, I am certified to teach English until 2034.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Usually a student needs help with a specific assignment; if that is the case, I find out what the student does or does not understand about it. Does the assignment just need refining or does it need more work? And, of course, with questioning, I can determine the student´s attitude about the subject. Whether they love English, are impartial, or detest it, I see my job as an encourager with expertise. I can help the student get the job done!
