I love teaching Math! I retired a few years ago when my dad was sick. I taught middle school and elementary math in WV for 33 years before I retired. Most recently, I have been teaching math at a residential facility for boys in Ohio. The boys range in age from 12 to 18. They are very far behind due to circumstances beyond their control. I have an elementary education degree, grades 1 - 8, from Marshall University with a math specialization, grades 1 - 9.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I like to get to know a student personally first, likes and dislikes, what they like to do for fun. Then I like to determine what kind of learner they are. Then I assess where they are in math and if there are any gaps in learning.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have an elementary degree from Marshall University for grades 1 - 8, with a math specialization grades 1 - 9

I charge $30 per hour for online students or students who come to me in Huntington, WV. I charge $40 per hour if I travel to the student.
How did you get started teaching?
I have always wanted to teach. I loved school and enjoyed learning, especially Math. It just seemed logical to go into teaching math as a career.
