Math And ELA Tutoring
About
Hello!
I am a licensed special education teacher in the state of Wisconsin. My experience has been with all different ages and abilities. I have seven years of teaching experience in high school, one in middle school, and one in elementary school. In addition, I have tutored all ages in the areas of math, reading, and writing. For the past five years I have co-taught Algebra; however, reading is a passion of mine and I love working to facilitate that same passion in my students.
My biggest character strength is the patience I have cultivated through working with students of varying abilities and needs. If one strategy doesn't work, I will try another. I work hard to get to know my students and build rapport.
My academic strengths are in the areas of math (elementary through high school Algebra) and ELA (reading fluency and comprehension, and grammar and spelling). Though I am a special education teacher, my students are a mix of special education and regular education.
Please feel free to reach out to me if you feel I would be a good fit for your child!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I start with an informal interview with the student. I ask them about their interests outside of school and what they hope to gain from tutoring. I ask them about their strengths and also about their struggles. Sessions are individualized to a student's interests and ability level.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Nine years of formal teaching; one year of student teaching; many years of tutoring.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
$30/hour or $20/half hour
What types of students have you worked with?
I work with all students! I can work with a student in general education just as well as I work with students with exceptionalities.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Interview your teacher! Does your learning style match their teaching style? If not, are they willing to adapt their style to match yours?
