Tutoring For The Maths And Sciences
About
Let me be upfront... I have not been a tutor outside of helping fellow peers in school. However, I love to help others understand and learn their course material. I graduated from high school at the top of my class and I was also in National Honor Society for the two years allowed in high school. I am currently a junior pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Biology at the University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire. My main comfort level is basic maths (elementary arithmetic, Algebra I, and Geometry), beginning chemistry, Biology, and beginning Spanish. I want to help my students achieve the grades that they are looking for as well as help spark their passion for learning. I believe that education is a privilege and it should be used to our advantage.
Note: I am not a liscensed teacher and am not a subsitute for your student's primary learning facility. My tutoring is best fitted for a student who would like some extra practice, someone who can oversee their homework and help with questions, or someone who might need a different explanations on various concepts.
In short, I love that lightbulb moment when working with students. It is a gratifying feeling when somebody understands a topic that was difficult at first. Not only did you help them get to that point, but also their excitement when that anxiety melts away! Tutoring overall is an extremely rewarding experience when your students are just as involved as you are!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
My typical process for working with a new student starts with getting to know about them as a person. Being comfortable with your instructor helps calm any nerves and creates a better learning environment. Then I will ask the student about their learning style, and if they aren't sure, take steps to find out. Learning style is very important as content becomes much more difficult to understand if it isn't presented in a conducive method. Finally, I ask about their study habits. Understanding how my students master concepts and their methods in doing so allows me to better create tutoring lessons or plans to fit their individual needs.
