Math And English/Reading Tutor
About
I am a 16-year-old girl, and I am a junior at La Follette high school in Madison, though I live in DeForest. I have taken honors math classes up to precalculus, and I am taking AP calculus next year. I have taken all honors english classes as well, and I am currently enrolled in a creative writing class. I am a 4.0 student and I am a candidate for National Honors Society. I have been a TA for a French class, and have experience teaching others academic concepts and ways to remember vocabulary. I am also starting to tutor math, at lunch, to freshmen and sophomores at my school who need support. I also love kids, so working with them would be an amazing opportunity to pursue my passions: learning and children.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I would like to speak with the family of the student first (if the student is a child) to see how the student learns best to understand how I should create lesson plans to best fit their needs. If the student is older, I would do the same, but ask them questions instead of the parents.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am beginning to tutor at my high school, have taken honors math up to precalculus, and have taken honors english all the way through high school.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I am asking for $20-25 an hour, but the price is negotiable.
How did you get started teaching?
I have always like helping my classmates and younger kids with their homework, and realized that I could explain things so they would understand. I heard of the math tutoring program at my high school, and decided to start teaching through that.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have more professionaly worked with high schoolers, but I have also worked with middle schoolers and elementary students for mostly math, but also reading/english.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
I think that if you need something, you shouldn't have to think through before asking for a change, because the sooner your tutor knows, the sooner they can make changes to lesson plans to accomodate your learning style.
