Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I usually start by getting to know them personally and what challenges them. Then I figure out their learning style and adjust my teaching style to them.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I just graduated with a Biomedical engineering degree from University of Wisconisn Madison. I have tutored my peers all througout. Also, my mom has her own learning center I work for when I am not in school. This can help kids of all ages.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
It depends on the person, but usually 20-30$ per hour, more or less depending on what the customer is willing to pay.
How did you get started teaching?
Kids at my high school would ask me for help after school with their home work. My mom also owns a learnign center that I help with.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with high schoolers, college age, and some middle schoolers.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I really enjoy hiking and snowboarding, last weekend I went with my friends and it was fun.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
I would look for someone who can challenge you to learn the information not just give you the answers, so then you can do better on exams.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Ask yourself, have I tried my hardest on this and used the resources given in class. If "yes" then go ahead and ask away!
