Math And Science With An Engineer
About
I have always had a passion for math, chemistry, and physics, and it always makes me excited to share my knowledge with others. I have previously held tutoring and caretaking positions with children ages 5-12, but I also have helped students on a high school and college level. In the fall of 2021, I will be a Junior at the Milwaukee School of Engineering in the BioMolecular Engineering department.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
It is important for me to find where the student is already at and seeing what they know before I start trying to teach them anything new. Finding the strengths of an individual and helping them with those as a starting point can be very helpful in their understanding of the material.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have worked for approximately 5 years as an assistant instructor at Riverbend Martial Arts and I have spent approximately 2 years as an assistant teacher in the local YMCA's surround care program. I have also worked independently as a tutor for elementary and middle school age children in math. At higher levels of education I have never been officially employed as a tutor, but I frequently help my peers in chemistry, math, and physics.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I prefer to be paid by the hour, but I am willing to negotiate about the pay per hour depending on the subject and what I am requested to help with.
How did you get started teaching?
I started teaching in martial arts, and that helped me branch out to help guide students through their education as well.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have the most professional experience working with students ages 5-12.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Do your best to find a tutor that can work with you in your learning style. If they can find a way to help you learn in the best way for you, then they will be good for you.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
If there are specific topics, concepts, or methodologies that the student has struggled with in the past, they should at least consider discussing those with their teacher so that they can improve on the student's learning experience.
