What is your typical process for working with a new student?
When working with new students, I ask questions to better understand their interests and tutoring goals. From there I am able to tailor lesson material to increase successful outcomes.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a licensed 1-8 grade teacher. I hold a Bachelors degree in Elementary Education and Spanish Literature, Language and Culture. I have been teaching and tutoring for six years and counting.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I typically charge $20 per session, per subject.
How did you get started teaching?
I started teaching because I wanted to make a positive impression on children daily. In a classroom environment as an elementary teacher, I am able to do that.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have taught and tutored students of all ages. I've taught students who are below level, on level and above level with their learning. I have worked with students who have learning delays and impairments as well as students who are advanced learners. I have also worked with students from many different socioeconomic, religious and ethnic backgrounds.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
I'd tell a student looking to hire a teacher to be patient and honest with themself, ask questions, take his or her time in listening and learning new things. I wold also tell a student that practice makes better. No matter what subject area we are working in, you only get better if you practice.
