Tutoring Specialist
About
Bilingual Deaf educator with 30+ years of experience. I have taught 3rd grade to post secondary Deaf students, including special needs students and college bound Deaf students. My content areas of instruction has spanned over 68 courses resulting in a very diversified experience. I am fluent in American Sign Language, and conversational level in French sign language. I am one of approximately 12 teachers in United States who have enough training and knowledge to teach French sign language at the high school level. My training for this was completed at a world reknown university - Gallaudet University in Washington, DC and in Paris, France.
As a side job to my teaching career I have also worked in the area of Respite Care, coaching, university study abroad leader and founded a non profit organization. In retirement I would enjoy tutoring students, especially those who are deaf, hard of hearing or learning sign language. I have also greatly enjoyed working in the area of Respite Care including working with parents on how to adapt the environment to the child or teen’s needs in the home.
