Though I'm new to tutoring, I've spent my career helping people communicate more effectively, first in law enforcement and field research, and now as a life coach and PhD candidate. I love this work because I get to see people go from hesitant to confident in how they express themselves. My specialty is communication skills: I help students build clarity, confidence, and comfort in how they speak and connect with others, using the same listening and coaching techniques I rely on with my current clients. I tailor every session to the individual; no generic scripts, just real attention to what each student needs.

I am currently a medical student at Oregon Health & Science University and earned my Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience from UCLA. Throughout college and beyond, I have worked with students ranging from elementary school through the undergraduate level, tutoring subjects including biology, mathematics, and English. Working with me means having a tutor who is patient, encouraging, and adaptable. I understand that every student learns differently, so I tailor my approach to each individual's needs, whether that means breaking down complex concepts into manageable steps, using real-world analogies, or finding new ways to explain material that

My situation was unique. I had serious epileptic seizures during high school resulting in multiple brain surgeries and a long, challenging recovery. Matt entered my life during this time; I still had assignments to complete before graduation and an impending SAT exam, so I met with Matt twice a week and learned the essential concepts of writing and reading comprehension. While math was my strong suit, Matt helped me identify some earlier math concepts that needed refreshing. My initial SAT score prior to my relationship with Matt was 1260, but, after tutoring, I received a 1510 and was accepted by my school of choice for pre-med studies. I continue to meet with Matt two or three times per week during my undergraduate studies for more advanced writing strategies. I cannot imagine a better academic mentor than I have found with Matt.
