I am a high school math teacher with 5 years of experience, teaching a variety of math classes. In college, I also tutored several students. I have a bachelor's in mathematics, in addition ot my teaching credential.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
First, I spend some time talking with the student about what they're struggling with, how the class operates, and what they like and dislike about mathematics. Then I will do homework with the student, and sometimes come up with problems similar to the homework to practice with the student.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have experience tutoring, plus I'm a high school math teacher, so i feel that my experience is very closely related to tutoring services.

I found that I really enjoyed helping people learn, and decided to become a teacher.

What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Find a tutor who is knowledge about the material and can understand how your school teacher teaches the material. Students sometimes get confused when the tutor teaches a different wya than their school teacher.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Students need to do thei best with the material in class. They can't just save all of the homework for the tutor. Studens needs to come to the lessons with only what they can't figure out, not the entire assignment.
