About
Hello my name is Dom. I am an undergraduate senior with an AA in Criminal Justice where I was the honors graduate. I am currently a pre med senior achieving a BS in Health Psychology and a BS in Human Biology with a minor in Medical Anthropology with honors. I have tutored since I was in high school and also have formally taught high school age students in a joint Drivers Ed/College Prep classroom. I have a unique approach to tutoring and have learned many ways to get past some of the struggles you may be having with learning content. I have received multiple recognitions for my ability to teach and instruct as well. You can always reach out to me on Instagram at Coug4lyfe for ease of communication.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I start by having a free no cost "feeler session." I like to make sure that the relationship is one that will allow the student to grow academically. I offer to utilize many platforms to do this rather it be, Zoom, Facetime, in person, etc. I enjoy when parents are involved as well because it creates a support "team" for the student to thrive in.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have an AA in Criminal Justice, honors graduate.
I am 6 months away from completing two BS: one in Human Biology is the other in Health Peychology.
I was the lead instructor at Interface Driving Academy, and started a Drivers Ed/College Prep mindset there.
I have always been on the Deans list and will graduate with Top Honors and am a part of 3 honors societies.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I am very flexible. I believe education is the light to our future, so I like to view tutoring as a service not a job. I take every student and their needs into consideration. Depending on subject, I normally range from $17-30.
How did you get started teaching?
I was given a wonderful opportunity at Newtech skills center to be a volunteer Criminal Justice instructor due to my academic and field achievements. I found that I loved it and heard from parents alike that I was successful at my endeavors, so I continued onward to Interface Driving Academy.
What types of students have you worked with?
High school age students and college students.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Make sure that you can feel comfortable with them and can build a relationship. Relationship goes a long way, make sure they will work with your parents also. I find it important to think of your tutor as another coach on your team, not one that takes over your team.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Just be clear what your needs are. It is challenging to help a student who just says, "I need help with school." Set up a game plan in your head of what you need to do to succeed your goals. A good tutor will help you accomplish your goals, just make them clear.
