About
I completed my masters of arts in teaching from the Rossier School of Education USC in 2020 and love working with students. My focus of my degree was in elementary education but I have experience with students in all grades. I practice a reflective style of teaching and empower my students to set goals in order to effectively learn. You can check out my tutoring webpage at: www.wildbluewest-education-services.com.
I enjoy meeting people and learning about their goals and helping them reach their goals. When students are satisfied they are learning and are empowered to keep learning. I really enjoy this aspect of teaching.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
The first thirty minutes of my time with you are free (over the phone or zoom) and it is not tutoring but a complete introduction or meet and greet where I answer your questions and learn about your tutoring needs. This is where you and I can both decide if the services I offer are a good fit. The contract can be prepared and signed during this time or we can prepare it and you can email it to me if you would like a moment to reflect. If you are a minor- a parents signature is required and I will also need to meet the parent through zoom or over the phone. Please go to my calendly page to schedule: https://calendly.com/wildbluewest
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Masters of Arts in Teaching and have worked with students in both professional and volunteer settings for 17 years. The last several years I have worked for state government and have work experience at both city and county levels.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
To ensure students are successful I only schedule for thirty minutes at a time. I have availability currently on Tuesday's but this is subject to expand to Thursday's as well based on student needs. Each tutoring session is $40.00 but I do offer a 25% discount if you pay for one month or more.
How did you get started teaching?
I began teaching as a volunteer in my local 4-H organization and helped with workshops at special events, fairs and annual campouts. I then started working in an afterschool program for middle school aged students which then expanded to mentoring students who were in college while completing high school. When working for both a city and county, I worked to educate the public about actions they could take to improve local water quality. When I decided to go back to school for a professional degree, teaching was my natural choice.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with students from first grade through twelth grade but prefer working with students fourth grade and up only as my work is entirely online and suited for that age range best. I have experience working with adult students who are learning English in the United States but whom are from another country.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
In the past year I have volunteered as the PTSO president at my child's elementary school which is also a bilingual school. What brought a smile to my face were all the students getting their yearbooks and reading and writing kind messages to each other. There was a lot of smiles and laughter among students there.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
If you are considering hiring a private tutor to help you with reading comprehension, developing your writing skills, or test preparation to get a high score on the SAT's or to pass the GED- you have to know what your goals are and really know why you want to learn these things. Fortunately, if you don't quite know- that is part of my teaching style to help you with this.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Before scheduling an appointment with me to learn more about tutoring you should ask yourself what kind of student you are? Also, prepare to tell me about yourself when it comes to your previous education background as well as any other information that I should be aware of when it comes to learning. I find a lot of value when students are able to describe things learned from various life experiences. Sometimes people have traumatic experiences from school which can make learning academics a challenge or perhaps you have a diagnosed learning disorder or suspect one. These are the kinds of things you should think about before our meet and greet.
