I will provide a personalized and caring service to help a student with his or her individual needs. My tutoring is needs-focused, and I have experience with various methods of teaching to help each student get his or her desired outcome. In addition, my qualifications and prior experiences will lend a critical and experiencial eye to the writing process within the education system, as I have experience teaching in both k-12 and university. Finally, I have taught students in various locations, including three separate countries. My experience with students of diverse cultural, learning, and educational backgrounds provides me a better understanding of students unique needs and strenghts.
Qualifications:
-Master's Degree in Creative writing, prose
-Qualified to teach English/ fiction/ writing to university students within the United States
-Previous experience teaching college preparation essays
-Previous experience teaching English as a Second Langauge (ESL)
-Publications in literary magazines, as well as scholarships to literary conferences
-Bilingual proficiency in both Korean and English
I enjoy the work that I do, because it makes a difference in students' lives. I have taught college preparation essays to several students, and have helped them get into the school of their dreams. My students have been accepted into schools including Yale, Columbia, Cornell, Johns Hopkins, Amherst, and Middlebury. I not only try to teach students practicality, but I strive to bring out passion in my students. I encourage them to love writing, to love learning, to love curiosity and knowledge.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I like to have a preparatory session with the student, where we discuss goals, learning preferences, background knowledge, and methods to determine the best process in teaching each individual and unique student.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have extensive training in English language, especially in writing. I have a master's degree in writing, as well as a bachelor's degree in english literature, with a focus on writing. I have held various positions over the years, teaching students English as a second language (ESL) as well as essay writing, and college preparation.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Depending on the specific requirements of the student, as well as the difficulty of the subject matter, and the time required outside of class to edit/ interact with the students' work, prices will vary. On average, I charge between 20-40 an hour.
How did you get started teaching?
I have been teaching since I was in university. I have taught students in various countries, with various ethnic and cultural backgrounds, at various ages with differing English speaking and writing levels. I have also taught university students in the United States.

K-12, and university students. I've taught students in the U.S., South Korea, and Hong Kong.
