Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Begin with introductions and from their review what information the student has already learned and what topic the student needs help with. After, break down the topic and what to expect from the tutor session.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have 8 years of tutoring experience in person and online.
I also have a bachelor's degree in Mathematics from William and Mary.
How did you get started teaching?
Started tutoring when I was in Highschool. I enjoyed helping people understand the subject that I love. Because of that, I continued to teach throughout my college carrier and now.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with mainly Middle and Highschool students.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Don't be discouraged if the tutor you had was not the best. Sometimes you need to try different tutors before you find one that works for you.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Are you expecting the tutor to make a lesson plan that follows your current math class lesson plan?
Or do you want the tutor to look at what you have been attempting and then correct mistakes and misunderstandings you may have?
Or even a combination of the two?
